Edge Brewing was founded by two Americans who wanted to bring the craft beer revolution to Barcelona. Using American equipment, ingredients and know-how, Edge produces fresh American craft beer for one of the most exciting cities in Europe. Their goal is to make beer that makes a difference in a market that is just discovering there’s an alternative to factory-produced commercial lager.
Soy Rodriguez pours dark amber colour with a little cloudiness in the glass. A soft foamy head hung around throughout, leaving a little lacing around the glass. Aromas of pepper and star anise are joined by rye bread and floral hoppy notes. The beer is very complex, initially sweet to taste with coffee and caramel flavours making way to toasted malt before a bittersweet finish. Soy Rodriguez is a very much my kind of beer and definitely one that I'll be looking our for on my travels to Spain in the future. I'll also be popping back to Whole Foods Market to stock on Soy Rodriguez as well as some of the other beers from the Edge Brewing range.
