Shoppers at St. Enoch Centre are in for a culinary treat with the arrival of Ddoce, an exciting new Italian café which opened its first UK outlet this week at the leading Glasgow shopping Centre.
The new café offers the ultimate Italian experience and was created by a group of Napolitans who wanted to showcase the sweeter side of Italy through delicious patisseries served with authentic Italian coffee.
Cake lovers will be spoilt for choice with a selection of special Napoli delicacies on the menu, perfect for a mid-morning treat or an afternoon pick-me-up, including Sfogliatella, Caprese Cake, Pasticciotto and Pastiera, a special pie created by Italian nuns.
It’s not, however all about the sweet stuff with a tantalising lunch menu of savoury options also on offer, including small dishes such as Mozzarella Croquettes, a variety of Arancini (Risotto balls) to larger dishes including a selection of Cannelloni, Quiches and Pies. The menu has been specially created to give diners an authentic taste of Italy and features classics including Potato Gateau, a dish originating from 1768 that features potatoes, meats, cheeses and sometimes vegetables.
Provenance is important to Ddoce and all ingredients, with the exception of the milk, are sourced and produced from the Napoli region of Italy. Even the interior décor is from Italy including the furniture and terracotta tiles which were handpicked in Sorrento. The colour scheme also reflects the Amalfi Coast with bright blues and yellows adding a Mediterranean feel.
Café manager, Saverio Denitto, moved to Scotland seven months ago and is excited to share Ddoce with Glasgow and show the city and St. Enoch Centre’s shoppers a different side to Italy.
He said: “Our country is known for pizza and pasta but it offers much, much more with beautiful patisseries and of course, coffee and this is what we want to showcase in addition to some authentic Italian dishes which will be perfect for hungry shoppers at lunch.
“We’re thrilled to launch our first café in the heart of Glasgow in the St. Enoch Centre and are looking forward to meeting different shoppers and giving them a taste of Italy.”
Anne Ledgerwood, General Manager at St. Enoch Centre, said: “We’re excited to welcome Ddoce to the Centre and are proud to be their first location in the UK.
“The arrival of Ddoce provides more choice for hungry shoppers and complements our existing food and drink offering perfectly.”
Ddoce is the latest food concept to join St. Enoch Centre which also includes; Ed’s Easy Diner, Pizza Hut Express, Muffin Break and Kimbles.
