Scotland on Show: Seafood and Craft Beer Take Centre Stage at Seafood Scotland Fish Supper

Last week (Tuesday 27 June 2017) Seafood Scotland staged a culinary show treating leading food influencers, journalists, bloggers and industry representatives to a bespoke experience tasting some of Scotland’s finest seafood paired with craft beers from brewers across the country.

Glasgow’s Tall Ship at Riverside, one of only five Clyde-built ships still afloat in the world today, provided the perfect space to showcase some of the best produce Scotland’s food and drink sector has to offer.

Chef Andrew Cumming took guests on a journey around the world, serving up Mexican inspired hake tacos, fish and chips with beer battered langoustines, New York style lobster rolls and Indian inspired tandoori mackerel wraps. The dishes were paired with Scottish premium craft beers featuring ales and wheat beers from The Brewers Association of Scotland including Fyne Ales, Loch Lomond Brewery, Stewart Brewing, Drygate, West Brewery, and Black Isle Brewery.

Patrick Hughes, Head of Seafood Scotland, said: “As part of our ongoing mission to inspire and engage the trade, chefs and culinary stars of tomorrow, we aim to demonstrate the sheer versatility of Scotland’s seafood. Seafood street food and beer is perhaps not the most likely pairing, but it works – the quality of both the seafood and the beers make them perfect partners.”
